During & After Hip Surgery :

If Things Go Wrong With Your Hip Surgery

Fortunately, the risk of major complications is very low.

If you are worried about your new hip after you have been discharged from hospital, the best thing to do is to phone the ward at the hospital where you had your hip surgery. Most of the time, the nurses will give advice over the phone. If necessary, the nurse will contact the hip surgeon, who will then phone you and if necessary arrange to see you at the hospital, either straight away or at an outpatient clinic. Sometimes it might be necessary to transfer your care to an NHS hospital, for example if there is a life threatening complication which needs to be treated in an intensive care unit.
