Meet Your Hip Consultancy Team

The Latham Consultancy team is made up of specially selected, experienced individuals - all experts in their fields.

Anaesthetist
Dr Mark Platt MA FRCA - a consultant anaesthetist at Southampton General Hospital. He trained in Cambridge, London, Oxford and Southampton, and is clinical lead for risk management.

He and Mr Latham do operating lists together every week at Southampton General Hospital and at the Wessex Nuffield Hospital. Mark will see you when you are admitted for your operation and will discuss the anaesthetic technique with you.

Often it will be a spinal anaesthetic and sedation, which means that you will be totally unaware of what is happening during the operation without the ‘hangover’ that a general anaesthetic produces.

Senior Physiotherapist
Pat Gruber MCSP trained in London and at Lord Mayor Treloar‘s Hospital. She has vast experience of treating patients who have had hip surgery and provides a world class rehabilitation service for patients who have had Hip Resurfacing.

Personal Assistant
Anne Harding has worked as Mr Latham’s PA since 2000. She will organise your outpatient visit and admission to hospital and is a great source of advice and knowledge about what happens before and after your operation.
